Rock Around The Clock

Bill Haley & His Comets

The movie Blackboard Jungle is released with the song "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley & His Comets playing over the opening film credits. The wide exposure from the film, at a time when rock on radio was a rarity, propels the song to No. 1. This is the first Rock and Roll record to top the Pop Charts in both the U.S. and U.K.
