Louie, Louie

The Kingsmen

Garage rockers The Kingsmen from Portland, Oregon hit No. 2 U.S. with the single "Louie Louie". Recorded in one take in a Portland studio, the song features several mistakes and an overall raw sound that help make it a teen party favorite. With rumors swirling about some of the songs unintelligible lyrics, the song was banned by some radio stations and investigated by the FBI for potential obscenity.
