A quote taken out of context from a U.K. interview had John Lennon saying "The Beatles were more popular than Jesus." After being hounded by the U.S. press for the Lennon "Jesus" comment, Beatles record burnings and death threats, The Beatles play their final concert on Aug. 29 in San Francisco. They follow with the release of Revolver, the album goes to No. 1 in both the U.S. and U.K.
