The Beach Boys eleventh album Pet Sounds is released in March to lower than usual sales, peaking at No. 10 U.S., No. 2 U.K. The album generates two Top 10 singles "Sloop John B" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice". In December the psychedelic-influenced non-album single "Good Vibrations" hits No. 1 in both the U.S. and U.K.
