Severn, Maryland singer Toni Braxton's self-titled debut album is released and goes on to hit No. 1 U.S., No. 4 U.K., selling over 12 million copies world wide. Braxton is signed to LaFace Records by producers L.A. Reid and Babyface who write most of the songs. The album has three Top 10 singles including "Breathe Again" No. 3 U.S., No. 2 U.K.
