Rock goes international as Canadian group The Crew-Cuts, named for their popular ’50s hairstyle, go to No. 1 on the U.S. Pop charts with their cover of The Chords R&B hit "Sh-Boom". This is the first rock and roll single to chart in the U.K., where it reaches No. 12.
